
Dunn Associates Case Study
“We are different, and that is by design.” So begins the opening paragraph to the Dunn Associates Web site. The company president believes that engineering is a creative activity and he wanted a Web site that not only reflected his “different” dictum but also served as a working tool for the company.
Strategy
In the middle of creating a new Web site for Dunn Associates, it became apparent that the company’s existing logo was not going to be compatible with the design direction the site was moving toward. modern8 proposed an overhaul to the company identity. The existing logo had unique optical properties and equity from years of use, but lacked impact and a contemporary look and feel. We simplified the mark, took advantage of the short name, added weight to the lines and updated the color palette.
Design
The Web site graphics combine illustrations of interior spaces and photographs using animated Flash technology, reflecting the brand position of Dunn Associates as a forward-thinking, progressive firm. The Projects, People and Case Studies sections of the Web site can be used to assemble and print proposals for clients of the company.
Results
The Web site received the Best of Show designation, making it the top award winner across 18 different categories, from the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), who sponsors an annual Marketing Communications Awards Program.
