YESCO Case Study
For 14 years we’ve been working with Young Electric Sign Company (YESCO) a 1,500-employee firm with multiple services and products offered through offices across the Western United States. Our work for YESCO has encompassed all of our core competencies: brand identity strategy and design, Web site design and development and corporate and promotional literature.
Strategy

Following years of naming uncertainty between the formal name of the company (Young Electric Sign Company) and the convenient acronym YESCO, we were asked to help sort out a design and brand strategy that could be applied to everything from their extensive fleet of vehicles to their facilities and business cards. The results maintained visual equity with the former identity, but modernized and improved legibility across all the mediums.
Design
At least once a year we create the Yescozette, an 11 × 14 oversize publication that goes out to clients, potential clients and employees. We design and layout each issue around a different theme and direct the photography, writing and printing. YESCO is typically known for their outdoor signage, but this issue of the Yescozette featured their interior signs, showing both their manufacturing and design processes as well as the finished work.
Innovation in the Electronics Division of YESCO has resulted in LED technology that the company uses not only for their own signs, but also as an OEM product for other sign companies. We photographically captured the manufacturing process at their facility in Logan, Utah and designed and printed the Yescozette using dull and gloss ink varnishes that highlight the colorful sign components.
We purposefully create YESCO literature in different sizes and folding configurations that reflect the custom nature of their sign products. We house the literature in an embossed and stamped folder with multiple slots and pockets that can be customized depending on the use.
The Web site we created for YESCO needed to visually portray them as a single company with all included services, but allow users to intuitively navigate to the specific information and division that interests them. The site was primarily designed in HTML for increased search engine optimization and seamless extensibility with all of YESCO’s divisions. Animated icons fulfilled their desire to vividly display all of their main lines of business in equal light and a content management system allows any authorized employee to make changes to the Web site without technical skills or know-how.
Results
