Russ Gray

"I love to travel. I love experiencing other cultures and places. None have been so visually startling as Marchu Picchu in Peru. I tried to elude to some of the strange beauty of the landscape. I also developed a deep love for England, while living there for two months. The paintings show the more peaceful side of the city and surrounding countryside. As a full-time graphic designer and father/husband, I have little time to paint. This has forced me to learn to paint fast. I like to capture essential elements quickly, and only elude to others."

Russ began a proficient oil painting career in the 6th grade when his father bought him an inexpensive set of oils. Unfortunately, by the 7th Grade, and after what's estimated to have been somewhere in the range of 6 paintings, the proficient career was cut short as other interests crowded out painting. Since the end of his career in the 7th Grade, Russ has been commissioned to paint a smattering of paintings for various family members, but no serious pursuit of painting was made in this period. However, in 2007, Russ had a re-surging interest in oil painting, culminating in approximately 6 more paintings. Russ is a designer at modern8, and graduated from the University of Utah with a BFA in Graphic Design in 2006.
