The federally mandated corporate annual report has always provided an
opportunity to communicate a message beyond the required numbers. NIC, the
nation's largest supplier of online government services, chose modern8 to
design their 2001 report. The cover design plays off the company name
located within the word "communicate". The interior of the report highlights
three pages of interesting facts "by the numbers", such as: "Number of
eGovernment transactions conducted by NIC portals in 2001:
52,000,00".

A traditional corporate white paper may not have four-color printing, but
the sign industry is not known for reserve. With business-wise logic and
footnoted evidence, the document presents a strong case for the value of
signs in retail establishments. modern8 created the brochure as a small-size
reference tool with a wire binding. The layout features pull quotes and
explanatory charts and graphs made from sign shapes. The brochure will be
used by YESCO sales representatives to educate buyers on their return of
investment of a sign purchase.

The advent of high definition digital cinematography in the 24P format has
signaled the coming of age of the medium. The look and feel of 35mm film
together with the advantages of digital technology makes an irresistible
combination. Matthew Williams, a nationally recognized director of photography,
and partners have formed vision24, a production company that combines traditional
film experience with the new technology. Randall Smith, creative director at
modern8, designed the identity for the new company, to be first applied to a
promotional DVD.

Preparing a written proposal in the construction industry is a common occurrence.
The proposal communicates past projects, letters of reference, bonding and banking
information and often schedules and costs. modern8 created a system for Furst
Construction Company to prepare sophisticated proposals in-house. The components
include cover, tabs and software templates for interior pages to be customized,
printed and assembled by the marketing team. The system provides the means to
creditable, repeatable proposals that can be generated on the spot.

We recently conducted a direct mail effort to promote the launch of the new
modern8 website: www.modern8.com Mailed to clients and potential clients, the
postcard parodied a more familiar circular symbol, particularly evident during
the recent Olympic games. The modern8 site was created entirely by staff
employees and includes a substantial and recently updated online portfolio.
