When Young Electric Sign Company builds a custom sign for a customer, they
don't always sell it to them. Many times it's better to lease the sign.
Leased signs come with service and maintenance as well as tax and business
advantages. The four-panel brochure we created to explain the leasing option
includes photos of YESCO leased signs, bright graphics highlighted with spot
varnish, and persuasive copy. YESCO sales representatives throughout the
nation use the brochure.

Associated Brigham Contractors, conveniently known as ABC, is amongst the
top 20 contractors in the state of Utah, but actually does most of its work
outside the state. ABC started in 1959 and now has hundreds of employees
working over a million man-hours a year.
To help others understand the depth of experience and knowledge at ABC we
created an eight-page brochure with a rear pocket. It was printed in full
color on un-coated paper to give it a rough, natural look more
characteristic of concrete construction. The location photography in
Kentucky and South Carolina together with local shots demonstrate the
specialized services ABC offers in structural concrete. Inserts for the rear
pocket detail specific projects recently completed.

Over 15 years ago, Randall Smith designed a logo and pocket folder for KEPCO, a
Salt Lake firm providing architectural cladding systems to the construction
industry. In 2002, KEPCO decided it was finally time to redo the folder, but
added another medium unknown in 1986 -- a website. modern8 has completed the
pocket folder; the website is coming.

Most companies don't even send out birthday cards to their employees, let alone
custom cards personally signed by the company president. For five years, Young
Electric Sign Company has asked us to design a custom birthday card with a theme
related to the sign industry. The YESCO "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign was
recently selected for use on a new Nevada postage stamp. We took the same sign and
changed the wording slightly for the birthday card.

Misty Kalke, a University of Utah graphic design student, has started a summer
internship at modern8. / With warmer weather the new office neighborhood is warming
up as well. Thomas Electric, the third-generation company directly east of us, is a
great friend and tireless neighborhood advocate. Further east are three new
businesses: an art gallery/coffee shop, record store, and hair salon/spa. To the
west is Cordell Taylor, who makes the most incredibly cool sculptures, along with
photographers Tom Anastasion and Kevin Perrenoud. And of course the individual who
first suggested the neighborhood, our long-term favorite photographer Michael
Schoenfeld, who's directly across the street.
